Washing removes protective films from the skin. The skin, of course, has protective mechanisms but over the long term, its protective fiction weakens. The symptoms of damaged skin are red and inflamed skin, excess drying, painful tiny cracks or itching of the skin. Sometimes eczema can develop. Therefore, careful washing with the right washing products is of the absolute necessity. Of equal importance, though, is the use of special creams on the skin. Protective creams usually contain a mineral oil that limits the loss of water from the skin. Hydrating agents – most frequently glycerin or natural agents as Aloe Vera – supply the skin with the lost moisture. Also beneficial for the skin are agents that protect it from free radicals (vitamin E) and are necessary for its nourishment (panthenol). Other ingredients there are anti-inflammatory extracts of marigold or chamomile that reduces inflammation and irritation of the skin are regular components of the creams.
