Chlorophyll is a naturally occurring pigment to which plants owe for their green colour. The chlorophyll molecule has the unique ability to transform the sun’s energy into energy bonded chemically, by means of a process called photosynthesis. Green plants produce saccharides – the basic source of energy for other biochemical and biological processes on Earth. The chlorophyll molecule is a member of a family of natural substances - porphyrins, which aid in the processes of the energetic and respiratory systems of all living organisms, including human beings. Chlorophyll is used in medicine as a supportive medium for the healing of skin sores or ailments of the mucous membrane, and in mouth hygiene. Due to its antibacterial effects, therapies using chlorophyll initiate an accelerated process of tissue granulation (the second stage of healing), and fast epithelisation (the third stage of healing). The healing process continues without any threat of the rise of inflammation.
